Gary Morgan

Gary is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), his
career in Financial Planning and Investment Advising commenced in
late 1989 when he joined Gardner Bradley O'Neill, one of the largest
Financial Planning firms of the day. In 1992 he was co-founding
Director of Financial Guidance Centre in Newmarket, and remained
a Director until early 1995, at which point he moved his practice
to the North Shore. Today, Gary's sole practice specialises in Investment
Portfolio design and monitoring, is based in Torbay, and trades
as Morgan Taylor Limited.
Certified Financial Planner (CFP), is an internationally recognised
qualification, with the licence being held here in NZ by the Financial
Planners and Insurance Advisors Association (FPIA). Gary has been
involved for many years in the development of professional practice
standards for this association and it's forerunner the IAFP.
Gary was Chairman of the IAFP's Standards Review Committee for two
years, and currently sits on the FPIA Complaints Committee, with
responsibility for complaints brought against members of the College
of Financial Planners. In mid 1996 Gary was guest speaker at the
IAFP National Conference in Rotorua, speaking on practice standards
and compliance issues. In April 1997 Gary toured the country presenting
a workshop to IAFP members.
The workshop covered the importance of disclosure and meeting the
requirements of the Investment Advisers (Disclosure) Act of 1996,
the Financial Transactions Reporting Act of 1996, and other issues
surrounding practice standards. Gary has been a member of the Estate
and Tax Planning Council of NZ since the early '90's and is just
starting his third year on the Board.
Gary's early school and university education was undertaken in the
UK, at the Municipal Grammar School, Wolverhampton (Head Boy), and
Leicester University where he studied Physics with Astrophysics.
In 1993 he completed a Diploma in Business Studies (Personal Financial
Planning), through Massey University, and is three quarters of the
way through a Batchelor of Business Studies, majoring in Finance,
also through Massey University.
